Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The Knights of Columbus Patriotic (Fourth) Degree Assembly at St. Josaphat was chartered on January 10, 2010. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at the parish center of the Basilica of St. Josaphat on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and 7th Street. The meetings begin at 7:00 PM.
The Patriotic Degree promotes love and respect for both our Catholic Church and our country. We are made up of members of various Knighthood (Third) Degree councils in the area.
Members of the Patriotic Degree make up the Honor Guard. This is the most visible symbol of the Knights of Columbus worldwide. Being an Honor Guard participant is not required of Patriotic Degree members, but a member is required to be in the Patriotic Degree before he can join the Honor Guard.

May God bless you.
I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve been daydreaming about a slice of delicious pecan pie while watching a good football game. You can blame my friends for that—they’ve spoiled me into thinking of Thanksgiving as a day filled with food and football! But beyond the traditions, Thanksgiving is truly an opportunity to be grateful for all we have received, and also a moment to remember and share with those who have little.
We often hear that Thanksgiving traces its origins to the kindness the Native Americans showed to the newly arrived settlers. How it actually happened, we can only imagine with some uncertainty. Still, we can be grateful today for the blessing of gathering at the table with family and friends without fear or worry.
Too often we are so busy that the entire celebration is reduced to a few quick moments: we enjoy a sumptuous meal, then hurry off to watch our favorite game. There’s nothing wrong with that, but this year I’d like to invite you to consider something more. Think of the many blessings in your life, the many graces you’ve received. Look for ways to spend meaningful, unhurried time with your family—sharing stories, building memories, and giving thanks together.
Let this holiday be more than a holiday—let it be a holy day: one that strengthens your relationships and lifts your spirit. Consider the beautiful opening prayer from the Mass of Thanksgiving Day:
“God our creator, your gifts to us are countless and your goodness without limit. As we come in thanksgiving, teach us to use wisely the riches of land and sea and all the blessings which come from you. Grant us hearts that know the needs of others, that we may give as freely as we have received from you.”
May the Lord pour out His blessings upon you and your family.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Fr. Alejandro Rodriguez, s.x.

Greetings
Consider the theme of the Thanksgiving Day gospel:
After being healed by Jesus, only one of the ten lepers returned glorifying God in a loud voice and fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. LK 17: 11-19
We have received so many generous gifts from God. We might learn gratitude and learn to share God’s blessings with others. “Thank you“ are good words to say. Often, they don’t match the magnitude of gifts given, but gratitude will help us become givers in return. As Knight of Columbus we have a dedication to Unity, Fraternity, Charity, and Patriotism. Our gift is to let others see virtue through our actions. We will never know what effect we will have on those who see us, but we can always return our sincere thanks to God.
SK Tony Bloom
